UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

1. Bachelor of Science in Economics [BSc. Economics (Hons)]*

  • Incepted in 1984, Bachelor of Science in Economics with Honours [BSc. Economics (Hons)] is one of the earliest programmes offered in Universiti Utara Malaysia. With the aims to build strong transferable skills in relevant quantitative methods and statistical techniques, the programme is supported by modules that provide students with understanding to deal with and organise data in the scientific way. Due to this scientifically approach, the programme name was changed to Bachelor of Science in Economics with Honours [BSc. Economics (Hons)] in 2011. The programme has produced graduates who are currently working in various sectors including banking, import-export, education, government, the tourism, health and insurance.
  • In 2015, this programme received accreditation from the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

  • Career prospects: Policy Analyst, Economic Consultant, Actuary, Financial Analyst, Budget Analyst

2. Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management [BSc. Agribus. Mgmt. (Hons)]**

  • Agribusiness Management is multidisciplinary programme and prepares unique abilities and skills to its students to become a good managers. This programme is a combination of three distinct disciplines namely: Agriculture Science : the art of cultivating various crops including animal husbandry, fishery, and other agro-based related activities. Business : an economic unit for selling goods and services to customers that give revenue. Management :Planning, organizing, leading and controlling the organization’s resources towards achieving the organizational goals.

  • Agro-based related project are supported by government agencies, industries such as Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda (MADA), and Lembaga Pemasaran Pertanian Persekutuan (FAMA).

  • Career prospects:  Business Ownership (Entrepreneurship), Farm Manager, Business Administration, Education.

  • Programme duration: 3 1/2 years

3. Bachelor of Finance [BFin (Hons)]

  • Our four years Bachelor of Finance (Honours) programme can unlock vast career opportunities as the field of finance is uniquely open ended. It is designed to equip students with thorough knowledge and technical competency in finance to meet the increasing demand for finance graduates in the market.  This programme also provides opportunities to students to obtain professional certifications such as RFP and SRFP which are recognised all over the world.  These credentials and one-semester internship can certainly enhance possibilities for students to embark on a vast array of careers in the fields related to finance such as risk management, funds management, banking, investment analysis and financial analysis.
  • Career prospects: Chief Financial Officer, Financial Controller, Financial Analyst, Fund Manager, Financial Planner, Corporate Treasurer, Investment Banker, Financial Executive.
  • Programme duration: 4 years

4. Bachelor of Banking [BBank (Hons)]

  • The Bachelor of Banking programme is aimed at producing graduates with analytical outlook and innovative bent of mind who can meet the much needed talent requirement of the financial system of the country and contribute to its overall development in general, and the banking system in particular. Bachelor of Banking programme is industry-relevant and recognized by the distinct professional body for the banking and financial services industry in Malaysia, Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB). 

  • Bachelor of Banking receives professional recognition from Asian Institute of Chartered Banker (AICB), where BBANK graduates can enroll and register directly into any of Level 2 Chartered Banker (CB) Specialised Certificate Programmes.

  • To strengthen the programme, the structure includes in depth coverage on managements, economics, finance, communication, and accounting. It also has minor, where student can choose any ONE of the following minors: (Click Here)

  • Career prospects: Bank Executive, Account Executive, Human Resource Executive, Financial Institution Executive, Financial Analyst, Financial Advisor, Credit Officer, Compliance Officer, Share Trading Officer, Teacher, Lecturer (College and Universiti), Government Officer, Entrepreneur.

  • Programme duration: 3 years

5. Bachelor of Risk Management and Insurance [BRMI (Hons)]

  • The program is designed to develop student skills such as interpersonal, professionalism, communication and critical thinking. Over the four-year period, students will be able to enhance their soft skill and confidence which add values to their personality. Our programme has a strong linkage to the industry in terms of industrial collaboration, joint event management, and conferences.  This provide a platform for students to build connections into the industry. To date, our graduates have high employability rates encompassing jobs in all sectors.
