Capitalism After The Great Recession
Recently, CIMB-UUM Chair Professor, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Salim Rashid delivered a talk in the CIMB Management Dialogue series program entitled “Capitalism after the Great Recession” at Menara CIMB, Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by Group Chief People Officer of CIMB Group, Puan Hamidah Naziadin, who was representing Chief Executive Officer of CIMB, Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
The CIMB Management Dialogue Series program is intended to give exposure to practitioners especially in the banking industry regarding today’s global economic trends in the aftermath of the 2008 Global Economic and Financial crisis specifically with the future of the global economic system moving forward. In his talk, Prof. Salim has succinctly reevaluated the causes of the 2008 crisis from different angles: political, law and social point of view rather than just looking on the financial, banking, or technological explanations per se. This has led his overall assessment and prescriptions to differ from the conventional narratives of the state of today’s global economy and financial institutions in a fundamental way.
