On 8th December 2016 at the Srivijaya Hall, Menara Bumiputra-Commerce, the Management Dialogue series was held as part of the CIMB-UUM Chair activities. The CIMB-UUM Chair Professor and Senior Research Fellow of Asian Research Institute of Banking & Finance (ARIBF), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Professor Emeritus Dr. Salim Rashid was the speaker in the event entitled “BREXIT and its Effect on the Malaysian Economy Specifically on Banking & Finance”.
The talk was moderated by the Deputy Head of CIMB London Branch, Asmihan Ibrahim, together with the Director of AmBank Group, Dato’ Seri Johan Raslan, as a panelist. The discussion dealt with many fundamental and complex issues which sparked interest to participants as reflected during the question and answer session. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim, the Dean of the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), UUM. Also present was the Director of ARIBF, Dr. Irwan Shah Zainal Abidin.
The comprehensive talk and discussion afterwards not only covered issues on the past, present, and future, but also gave some direction and prospects for the Malaysian economy moving forward due to BREXIT. The discussion also touched on many other aspects surrounding BREXIT, such as its impact to the global economy, China’s economy, and also the recent US election results.
