School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) organized the Economic & Finance Workshop series 5/2018 entitled 'Transforming Your Research Into A Top Case Study Publication' at the Seminar Room, SEFB yesterday.

The workshop was aimed at exposing participants to ways and means of transforming research into a leading case study publication by focusing on case studies in finance.

The workshop was conducted by Professor CIMB-UUM Chair, Prof. Dr. Jonathan A. Batten. The workshop was also attended by Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim, Director of IMBRe, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar, Dean of TISSA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chek Derashid, apart from lecturers and UUM post-graduate students.

Several emphases were made by Prof. Dr. Batten throughout the workshop namely the means of changing insights into research and case, the stages of idea transformation and case study development based on steps such as ideas and understanding; whether what was understood  consistent or inconsistent with the theory; whether or not contribution can be made by explaining or developing the understanding; would there be data easily available for further analysis, were the data unique and can they be made or considered as contributions?

In addition, he also gave step by step explanation on how to develop case studies by resorting to examples of case studies from leading financial and banking journals.
