MFAC 2018 Successfully Conveyed the Message "Innovative Ecosystem for Financial Revolution"

The 20th Malaysian Finance Association Conference (MFAC 2018) organized by the School of Economics, Finance and Banking in cooperation with the Malaysian Finance Association was held on 1-2 August 2018. Representing the Vice Chancellor, the conference was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Ayoib Che Ahmad. The Dean of SEFB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aznor Hj. Ahmad, was also present at the opening ceremony. The conference commenced with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Jonathan Batten, the CIMB-UUM Chair. This conference had received strategic cooperation and sponsorship from Bank Islam (M) Berhad, the Finance Accreditation Agency and Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

With a theme “Innovative Ecosystem for Financial Revolution", the conference had attracted both local and international participants. Seventy-nine papers had been presented by participants from eight countries on finance related issues. Other than academicians, industry players were also involved by sharing their knowledge and experiences through a forum entitled "Progress and Challenges of Crowdfunding in Malaysia". Those involved were Mr. Sam Shafie (Chief Executive Officer of Pitch Platforms Sdn Bhd), Ms. Angelld Quah (Chief Operating Officer of Fundedbyme Malaysia) and Mr. Khairul Nizam Md. Som (Chief Executive Officer of Finance Accreditation Agency).

Conference Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Nur Adiana Hiau Abdullah, hoped that this conference would have a positive impact and contribute to the university's efforts to further improve UUM's status. The network between academicians and industry players would definitely give way for more cooperation in the future.
